Dear NCPFF Members and Supporters,
We hope this email finds you well. Below is our latest update on key developments at both the state and national level. We continue to advocate strongly for physician standards, patient safety, and parental rights across North Carolina.
STATE
A Welcome Win for NCPFF – HB67 Amendments Under Consideration
Leadership from NC Physicians for Freedom recently met with Rep. Dr. Grant Campbell and Senator Amy Galey (sponsors/co-sponsors of HB67, which took effect January 1, 2026).
We expressed serious concerns regarding the bill’s provision allowing foreign-trained physicians to practice in North Carolina’s rural communities without the same rigorous credentialing, education, and supervision standards required of U.S.-trained physicians.
To our surprise, Rep. Dr. Campbell shared that the controversial foreign physician provision was not part of the original bill he sponsored. His focus was the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact. The foreign physician language was added later in the Senate.
Both Rep. Campbell and Senator Galey listened attentively, agreed to review our concerns, and indicated they would support targeted amendments to HB67. We are grateful for their sincerity and accessibility.
Upcoming Carolina Journal Article
An article co-authored with former Senator Joyce Krawiec on this topic is expected to publish soon.
May 19th Event
Dianna will present “Underserving the Underserved: The New Guinea Pigs” for the NC Chapter of the Brownstone Institute, addressing the foreign physician provision in HB67 and the misuse of Medicaid in North Carolina. Event details.
School-Based Mental Health Concerns
Senator Galey recently highlighted that 90% of North Carolina counties are underserved in mental health, with 13% having no mental health services at all.
While we support expanding access to care, NCPFF remains deeply concerned about the rapid expansion of School-Based Clinics (SBCs), some of which are prescribing antidepressants and contraceptives to minors without parental knowledge or consent, and offering tele-mental health services to students as young as 10 without parental involvement.
NATIONAL
The Anti-Depressant Cover-Up
A powerful new exposé from an insider at the Department of Health and Human Services — a must-watch. Watch Here.
Rural Health Transformation Initiative
North Carolina has received $213 million as part of the federal government’s $50 billion Rural Health Transformation Initiative.
Proposed solutions so far include recruiting foreign physicians, expanding telehealth, and using Artificial Intelligence (“Avatars”) for patient intake and screening.
We must ask: Are these the best and most creative solutions for North Carolina’s underserved rural communities?
We will continue to monitor these issues closely and keep you informed. Thank you for your steadfast support — together we are making a real difference. As a reminder, NCPFF is a 501(c)(3) organization that runs only on donations from generous donors like you! Donate HERE today.
In freedom and service,
