The following comments are not to be construed as recommending any parent or patient to take or not to take any medical treatment- but are offered to promote informed consent and to encourage open discussion with your personal medical professional about any medical decisions involved. They are also intended to contribute to improving informed consent and to promote understanding.
As a retired lifetime Fellow of the AAP for over 45 years, this action by the organization is sickening and disgusting. Trying to remove even religious and philosophical exemption options by parents is unwarranted and can only cause harm to physicians-patient relationships.
The financial conflicts of interest alone put the organization leadership in the position of making the organization reasonably perceived as the American Academy of Pharma.
All this in light of the following:
1. None of the CDC recommended vaccines have been demonstrated in a true inert placebo trial to be safe or effective. The oft-repeated excuse for this fact is that it would be unethical to do such a trial because of the risk posed to the placebo recipients. This falls flat on its face by the fact that the putative benefits to the vaccinees are ASSUMED. This is documented in detail in the book Turtles All The Way Down Edited by Zoey O’Toole and attorney Mary Holland (2022) that includes 1,240 references including 447 hyperlinked for immediate direct access.
As for effectiveness of vaccines, although no government studies comparing outcomes for vaccinated vs unvaccinated subjects have been done, such studies HAVE been done by sources outside government that are free of conflicts of interest. And nine such studies are described in the peer-reviewed literature in the book Vax-Unvax by Brian Hooker and RFK, Jr.. All nine report markedly better outcomes in the unvaccinated. Pediatrician Paul Thomas published his study comparing outcomes across 15 areas of chronic health problems experienced by his integrative pediatrics patients for vaccinated vs unvaccinated patients, showing markedly better outcomes for the unvaccinated – from asthma and allergies to autism. His data are presented in detail in his book Vax Facts (2025).
2. With regard to risks of vaccines, countering the unqualified “safe and effective” term often applied to the vaccines in question, the following reveal the absurdity of this description:
The 1986 law establishing the VICP (Vaccine Injury Compensation Program) granted immunity from liability for vaccine injuries for both pharmaceutical companies and administering medical professionals. It was done specifically because there were so many lawsuits for vaccine injuries that pharmaceutical companies threatened to discontinue manufacturing the vaccines. It was established that vaccines are “UNAVOIDABLY UNSAFE” – and later affirmed as having been so declared, by the US Supreme Court in the Bruesewitz v Wyeth case, using those exact words. And last but not least, the VAERS government system for post-marketing surveillance of vaccine adverse events, has paid out over $5 billion over the past 30 some years – and this in a system found by the government sponsored Harvard Pilgrim study to report less than ONE PERCENT of actual injuries.
3. Informed Consent
The long-held foundational value of first and foremost “Do No Harm” along with Informed Consent for ANY medical treatment of any kind are in contemporary corporatized, monetized, institutional dominated medicine, virtually non-existent. Usual practice is to hand a parent the pharmaceutical company generated VIS (Vaccine Information Sheet) and to AVOID substantive discussion of benefits and risks.
4. Terminating Patient-Physician relationship
A growing practice of terminating medical care availability for parents who make the reasonable decision to decline some or all vaccines for their child is abominable and unsupportable. I’m my opinion it should be considered abandonment of care.
Pediatricians and other medical professionals are mostly well-meaning professionals and are unaware of these realities. Others suspect some of these truths but are hesitant to speak out for legitimate fear of adverse consequences – loss of compensation or even their job. Some are beginning to leave organized medicine and shifting to independent practices or to root cause, Integrative or Functional medicine.
