There was some news from Duke University that was reported in the mainstream media over the last couple of days. Researchers at the university had published some research that allegedly showed ivermectin is ineffective against Covid-19.
The corrupt media is unable to understand the issues with bad research; and is therefore unable to relate these issues to the public.
What was wrong with this study? Many things:
- The dose of ivermectin used was incorrect;
- The drug was used alone in the study, whereas proper early treatment for Covid-19 requires using multiple medications, vitamins and supplements in combination, both prescription and over-the-counter;
- Treatment was started too late in this study to demonstrate the benefit of early treatment, because the earlier treatment begins, the better the outcome;
- Treatment in the study with ivermectin was for an inadequate, short duration of time;
- The standard by which the study deemed treatment to have succeeded or failed was invalid or inappropriate.
Numerous other research studies have demonstrated the overwhelming effectiveness of ivermectin against Covid-19 when used in combination with other items.
A number of months ago, Duke had also released a study that allegedly demonstrated the effectiveness of masks in the classroom when debate was raging as to whether masks should be required. This particular study was performed under the auspices of the Duke ABC Science Collaborative. I had looked at the study back then, and was astonished to see how bad it was. It was utter and complete trash. Just as in the case of the recent ivermectin study, the mask study was dutifully and widely reported by the regional mainstream media.
The Brownstown Institute had compiled 150 other studies that demonstrated the precise opposite— that masks do not help.
Duke University tends to arouse certain passions among North Carolina natives. Some like the school, but many do not for various reasons. But the fact is that Duke historically has been regarded as an elite university– among the top ten in the country.
This situation reveals how the universities and academic medical centers have become utterly corrupted. The federal government’s official line– peddled by the CDC, FDA and NIH– was that ivermectin should not be used, and that masks should be. The universities and academic medical centers are dependent on huge flows of monies from the federal government– research monies from the NIH and other parts of the federal government; Medicare and Medicaid monies; and also student loan dollars.
The university or academic medical center that counters the prevailing narrative from the federal government risks having its various gravy trains cut off.
The general public ought to be able to rely on these institutions for unbiased, objective information. These institutions should have been able to play the role of “honest broker”. But during the Covid-19 pandemic, they have been revealed to be otherwise. That is unfortunate, and it has hurt the citizens of North Carolina.
